The next move: ZARsc on Orca

ZARsc is now available on Orca, Solana's premier liquidity layer since 2021.

We issued ZARsc onto Solana because that is where the builders are. Orca is where most of Solana's trading happens. Being issued on the chain but absent from its main venue was a gap, and this closes it.

What it opens up

Any wallet, application or protocol in the Solana ecosystem can now reach a Rand-backed stablecoin on-chain, programmatically, at any hour.

The people this helps most are builders. A developer in Johannesburg working on a payments app or a treasury tool no longer has to price everything in dollars or route around the Rand. Rand-denominated value now sits inside the infrastructure they already use. Global teams that want to support the Rand in their products can do it without opening a South African bank account first.

"We issued onto Solana from day one - but being absent from where Solana actually trades was a gap. Today we closed it."  - Gideon Greaves, Managing Director of Super Money SA (Pty) Ltd.

What ZARsc is on Orca, and what it is not

ZARsc is built to hold its value against the Rand. It is a settlement instrument. Availability on a decentralised exchange changes where it can move and who can build with it, and nothing else. Anyone presenting ZARsc as an investment is not speaking for us.

The same Rand behind it

The structure is unchanged. The Rand reserves behind ZARsc are held onshore, in Rand, with independent monthly assurance from Moore published at supercoin.co.za/monthly-assurance-reports. Fireblocks secures issuance. Chainalysis screens activity on the rails.

"Local-currency stablecoins are how internet capital markets become useful beyond the dollar. Bringing a Rand-backed stablecoin from a licensed South African issuer onto Solana's liquidity layer is the right direction."

Where this goes next

We add venues where Rands need to move: licensed local exchanges, payment partners, and now the ecosystem ZARsc was issued into. More will follow, and we will announce each one when it is live rather than before.

"The test for every listing is boring and consistent: does this make the Rand more useful on-chain? Yes. So we moved." - Gideon Greaves, Managing Director of Super Money SA (Pty) Ltd.
