ZARsc is built for one job: moving Rand value at the speed the internet already moves everything else. Solana provides the settlement layer, with transactions confirmed in seconds at a fraction of the cost of traditional rails.
The trust structure behind ZARsc is deliberately distributed, so no single party is trusted alone. Rand reserves are held onshore at Absa in segregated accounts. Moore South Africa performs independent procedures over the reserve position every month and the reports are published on the Supercoin website. Fireblocks secures custody. Chainalysis screens transactions.
ZARsc is designed to live in many venues: exchanges, payment platforms, payroll rails and tokenised asset infrastructure that want Rand settlement without taking the backing on faith. The Supercoin consumer wallet, built on the same rail, follows later this year.
"We issue the Rand onto Solana because that is where the speed is. The reserves never leave South Africa. They sit onshore at Absa and get checked every month, with the reports published. Fast where it should be fast, verifiable where it must be verifiable." – Gideon Greaves, Managing Director, Supercoin
“In 2026 alone, Solana has processed nearly $5 trillion in stablecoin volume, demonstrating the scale and momentum activity on the network," said Maya Caddle, Head of Payments Partnerships, Solana Foundation. "As stablecoin adoption expands globally, issuers need a high-performance, reliable network that can support real-world payments and financial activity at scale. ZARsc brings the Rand into Solana's growing onchain economy.”
Supercoin is an FSCA-licensed Crypto Asset Service Provider (FSP 53458, Super Money South Africa) under the FAIS Act 37 of 2002, backed by NYSE-listed Super Group (SGHC). Supercoin issues ZARsc, a Rand-pegged stablecoin, onto Solana. Monthly reserve assurance reports are published at supercoin.co.za/monthly-assurance-reports.
